Goodness was that the last time I blogged hmmn.. Anyway heres the thing, Google is to put to bed Blogger as well as some other smaller acquisitions ( not youtube ) and rebrand under the Google PLUS banner, Blogger will now become Google Blogs. Service to roll out within about six weeks. Not sure if the format will alter and I assume its just a rebrand to realign all products under the Google brand.

Huffington v Berlusconi

Congratulations to Arianna Huffington who has sold the Huffington Post for 315m, not bad for a site that simply aggregates world politic news. 6000 Work for Free Contributers at the Huffington Post will gain no benefit. Capitalism at its finest.

Contrast this with Berlusconi who almost single handedly supports his media empire, not only controlling the media but also generating most of the stories, although admittedly some media cover him less well.

Its never a dull moment, today tax fraud, tomorrow bunga, bunga scandal ( and yesterday in fact ). Although he simply cannot compete with a proper English scandal, where is any mention of duck houses let alone moat cleaning ( not a euphemism ).

Ok, starting to get it now. The iPad is actually a much more useful tool than I originally thought, not for me but for a lot of people.

My original conclusion was you would be better off with a laptop, but I’ve now realised most people do not need a computer, all they need is something to put a document together and maybe look at a spreadsheet. The iPad is a little on the small side for large spreadsheets, but fine for putting a document together.

So the main thing going for it is the size, it’s much more portable than a normal laptop, although for me I’d still get more value from a netbook.

I happened to be in town the other day so I managed to pop into the apple store. Exceptionally packed, half term... oh, and the new iPad in store. I had a quick peruse (hmnn… peruse actually means to read thoroughly and not a quick glance as most people assume) I have to say it was generating massive interest and the product is nice enough, slightly heavier then I would have thought actually. Reassuringly heavy, marketing would say, just heavy we would say.

Anyway there's a chap interested in the product, but he's concerned about the keyboard, oh you can get the add on keyboard, £55 oh... ok. He's concerned about the screen... oh...you can get a cover, £30. Ok. Actually I was concerned about the screen also, it is very easy to pick up finger marks as there is no other means of holding it. Anyway he seemed interested in the high end model, the 64GB, at £699. I don't know whether he purchased the product as I left... however I can't help feeling he would be much better off with a laptop and so would everybody else.

Failing that a Sony netbook, same size, much smaller price £280? much greater disc space for the 250GB model.

Or the iPod touch at £130 on Amazon, if the iPad had been the original product and then the iPod touch came we would have been well impressed, wow..A little iPad for a little price. Fantastic.
